Competitive Exam support

Competitive exams are tests that are used to select candidate for jobs. They are usually conducted by various boards, commissions or organizations at national, state or institution levels.

Competitive exams are generally challenging and require lot of preparation and hard work. Following chart indicate 8 types of competitive exams that students should be aware of

  1. 1. Civil Service Exam (CSE) – is one of the most prestigious exams conducted by UPSC every year to recruit officers for IAS, IPS, IFS, IFoS, IRS, etc.
  2. 2. State Civil Service Exams (MPSC) – Many types of exams are conducted by the state public service commission to recruit officers required for state civil service. Mainly state service exam (Group A), combined Exam (Group B), and Group C exams are regularly conducted by MPSC. The exam pattern and other details are described in the following charts.
  3. 3. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) – This is a central Govt. body like UPSC that recruits lower-level staff for central government departments. SSC mainly conducts exams like SSC-MTS, SSC-CHSL, SSC-CGL, SSC-STENOGRAPHER, SSC-GD, etc. The exams are conducted every year.
  4. 4. National Defense Academy/ Naval Academy (NDA/NA) – This exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year for candidates who have qualified for the 12th Standard exam. The exam recruits officers for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  5. 5. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) – This is a central body recruiting probationary officers and clerical staff for nationalized banks. The exams are held every year in two or three stages. Large numbers of vacancies are advertised annually.
  6. 6. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) – This Board recruits officers and staff for Indian Railways. From Group D services up to Group A officers, the selection of candidates is done through these exams. Popular exams include NTPC, Technicians, Loco Pilots, and Sectional Engineers.
  7. 7. Combined Defense Services (CDS) – This exam recruits graduates for officer posts in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The exam is held every year for engineers and science graduates.
  8. 8. Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) – This exam recruits ground duty and technical staff for the Air Force.
